
Gashgai carpets
The Gashgai are a nomadenvolk that lives in southwest Irans near the city of Shiraz. In summer, they move into the Zagros mountains with their huge barrels. Here they escape the heat and find sufficient pastimes for their animals.
All the Gashgai need to make the carpets produce themselves. The men guard the sheep and the women spiders, dye and make their wool to refined noma carpets.
The life of the Gashgai also determines the pattern of your carpets. They work without a template and as motives are often found their animals, the old Persepolis or the Persian lions. Typical of these perspent rugs is their reddish brown color.
